Big shoe sizes - plus size comparisons

Have you ever been to buy a pair of shoes, looked for a size 12 and when you look inside a show it says size 46... 46!!! Unfortunately shoe manufacturers still use different sizing for the UK, European and world markets. Understanding this differences isn't actually all that hard, if you know how the systems work. Below is chart which shows the main plus sized footwear sizes from around the world.

The main thing to remember is that a UK size 10 is approximately the same as European size 44... You then count up accordingly using half steps for UK shoe sizes, and whole steps for European shoes. Thus, a UK trainer in size 12 and a half would be the same as an equivalent European shoe in size 47. Remember though, different footwear manufacturers tend to use varying conversions so always check the manufacturer's website where available.
